Hey, I'm Gilbert

I believe stories shape souls. I've seen how the right story at the right moment can change everything about how someone sees themselves and their world.

That's why I write novels that refuse to choose between entertainment and meaning. My characters face impossible moral choices—like Michael in A Decent Man, who must decide what price he'll pay for redemption when he discovers his wife is poisoning him over a tragedy he can't remember causing. Or Ali in The Raindance Chronicles, a reluctant superhero who must navigate the corruption eating Nigeria alive.

I structure these stories like movies, with scenes that build to emotionally devastating climaxes while exploring the deeper questions: What drives us? What breaks us? What changes us?

I'm a self-taught storyteller who teaches other writers through Learn Storycraft. Based in Lagos, I'm a morning person who prefers the indoors—which works out perfectly for the obsessive hours this craft demands.

The world has enough shallow entertainment and enough preachy literature. I'm interested in the stories that live in between.
